Sea Scout in Sri Lanka was established in June 15th 1932 by founder W.F Abeykoon under the name of 1st port of Colombo SEA SCOUTS. Sea Scouts are are members of the international Scouting movement, with a particular emphasis on water-based activities, such as Kayaking, canoeing, sailing and rowing. Sea Scouts provides a chance to sail, cruise on boats, learn navigation, lean how to work on engines. You'll also have a chance to develop maritime skills that can lead to careers later on

SEA SCOUTS in Sri Lanka is a volunteer Group and no cost for the kids. We have few NGO's who pay for the uniforms and some traveling expenses for the kid's. Most of them come form disadvantage family's in fishing Villagers. We are affiliated to the SEA SCOUTS of USA.

Sea Scouting is adventure on sea and land for you. Sea Scouting is a co-education program offered to young adults between the ages of 12 and 21. It's a chance to learn and have fun at the same time.

Sea Scouting is organized to promote better citizenship and to improve members' boating skills and knowledge through instruction and practice in water safety, boating skills, outdoor, social, and service experiences, and knowledge of our maritime heritage. You can learn to sail, to row, and to keep a boat in shape; you can cruise local waters or go sailing on long cruises far from home.

The Sea Scouts Head Quarters, is situated on the banks of the Beira Lake at 65/15 Sir C.A. Gardiner Mawatha. In Oct 8th 1987 Leadership change hands to Hiran Jayasinghe. Later name was change to SEA SCOUTS Organization of Sri Lanka and setup 6 Divisions with over 750 members of young girls and boys. By year 2012 We hope to have 7,000 members . Below was the SEA SCOUTS HQ in Sri Lanka before it got hit buy the terrorist plane attack Feb 20th 2009. I personally fund to refurbish this with Computer rooms and all other facilities at a cost of US$ 60,000.00
